Employee E-mail Upgrade from GroupWise to Outlook (Employees Only)

Our new Exchange e-mail accounts are now operational. Further details about conversion of data from your old GroupWise account to your new Exchange account will be sent to your Exchange accounts, but our first objective is to make sure you are able to get to both your new and your old accounts.

Here are the basics you need to know to get started…

Exchange logoExchange Basics

Q: How do I get to my new Exchange account via the Web?

A: You may access your new Exchange mailbox using $quot;Outlook Web Access$quot; at https://mail.heartland.edu. Alternatively, you will also now have an Outlook tab in myHeartland.

Q: How do I get to my new Exchange account using my office PC?

A: On Sunday, September 21, 2008, IT placed a "Red Light ….Please Stop!!!!" card on each employee's computer monitor. An IT staff member needs to spend a few minutes at your workstation while you are present in order to do some initial set-up and get you started with Outlook. You should not try to access your new Exchange account from your office PC until you trade in your $quot;Red Light$quot; card and receive a "Green Light" card from IT. Once you have received your "Green Light" card, you will simply click on the Outlook icon on your desktop or on the start menu. If you need to get to your new account to send or check mail before you get your $quot;Green Light$quot; card, you should use Outlook Web Access, available at https://mail.heartland.edu and on the new Outlook tab in myHeartland.

Q: What is my e-mail address now?

A: Your e-mail address has not changed… it will still be first.last@heartland.edu and it now points to your new Exchange account. Your old GroupWise account has been assigned a new, temporary address just to facilitate selective forwarding of messages to your new Exchange account. That temporary address will be first.last@gw.heartland.edu.

Q: How do I convert my address book, my calendar and/or e-mail messages from GroupWise to Outlook?

A: Information will be sent to all employees' new Exchange accounts with information on converting address books, calendars and e-mail messages.

Q: How do I get to my GroupWise mailbox using my office PC?

A: Simply start GroupWise the way you always have by clicking on the appropriate icon on your desktop or start menu.

We appreciate your patience, but please do not hesitate to let us know if you are having trouble getting to either your old or new account.
