Heartland offers tuition-free classes for adults aged 17 and older who need to improve their English language skills.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

The ESL program at Heartland Community College includes the Functional ESL (FESL) program for individuals who need to improve their English in order to live and work in the community.  FESL classes are held in Bloomington-Normal at Heartland's main campus and other sites in the community.  New students may register for FESL classes throughout the year.  Please call to schedule a registration appointment: 268-8180.

The program also includes the Academic English Language Program for students who want to prepare for college-level coursework.

ESL students may be eligible for childcare services at the College’s Child Development Lab and may receive free one-on-one tutoring through the College’s Academic Support Center or through Project READ in Lincoln.
