Heartland ESL students and teachers are always up to something fun. From field trips to holiday parties to movie nights, the ESL Program knows how to have a good time!

Celebrating diversity.
Each year in May, Heartland’s ESL Program hosts a Potluck dinner for students, staff and their families. Students prepare food from their native countries to share with classmates and teachers. The ESL Potluck is the year-end celebration to recognize the hard work of ESL students and teachers!

Looks delicious!

Visiting with classmates and families.
Each summer, ESL students present an International Culture Night highlighting different aspects of their native cultures. International Culture Night is a free event open to the public that fosters communication among community members from different backgrounds.

Students interviewed classmates and prepared informational posters about their native countries.

International Culture Night included Children’s Story Corner with stories from around the world.

Other fun features were henna tattooing and origami.

Some student chose to wear the traditional costumes of their native countries.
