    I love working at Heartland because every day is different. We get to meet all different types of students at different points along their journey. I never know who is going to come into my office or what they might need - I like being able to problem solve and help students find answers to their questions. We get to help students reach their educational goals, no matter what path they choose.

    Having graduated from a community college myself, I can appreciate the diversity and opportunities that Heartland can offer.     I love working at Heartland because we inspire and empower our students when working with them. I enjoy working at a community college because for some students this is their first chance, or their last chance, or their only chance at higher education. Giving my all to students is such a rewarding part of my job and I hope to help students reach their education goals, no matter what road they take after Heartland.

    I have always had a passion for education and planned to teach at the high school level. Instead, I found my way to Heartland and discovered my passion for higher education! It is truly a joy to assist students in each step of their college journey and support them as they discover their goals and passions. There is something inspiring and unique about community college. We look for options and opportunities for anyone that comes through our doors and I am grateful to be a part of such an incredible institution!

    Why do you love working at Heartland?

    As a student who needed some extra support from my faculty and staff, I chose a small school experience for myself and greatly benefited from that experience. In my career, I have always chosen to work at small colleges because they allow me to give that same level of care and support to my students. Working at the Pontiac Center allows me to provide my students with that extra end-to-end care, while also providing them with the program opportunities available at the Normal campus. It’s a great way to make a difference in student lives, as well as to have a positive impact on my community as a whole.
