Grade Point Average (GPA) Calculator

How do I use the GPA calculator?

Your semester GPA represents the average for one semester while your cumulative GPA reflects the average of courses taken throughout your academic career at Heartland. The handy GPA calculate will help you calculate both your semester GPA and your cumulative GPA.

To calculate your semester GPA:

  • Enter the credit hours for each course you are taking this current semester.
  • Select the grade you earned or believe you will earn in each course.
  • Choose the Calculate button next to the Semester GPA.

To calculate your cumulative GPA:

  • Enter your cumulative GPA earned so far.
  • Enter the total grade points you have earned to date.
  • Enter the credit hours for each course you are taking this current semester.
  • Select the grade you earned or believe you will earn in each course.
  • Choose the Calculate button next to the Cumulative GPA.

Other notes about GPA calculations:

  • Courses with grades of I, W, H, R, CR, NC, #, NR and X are not considered part of the total hours attempted to determine GPA, but these grades are recorded on your academic record.
  • Only Heartland Community College courses numbered 100 level or above are used to calculate your HCC GPA.
