Vinyl and Vino 2014

Date: Friday, January 24, 2014headphones on wine glass
Time: 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Location: Heartland Community College, Heartland Cafe
Student Commons Building (SCB), Normal, Illinois

Vinyl and Vino was a great opportunity to take a trip back in time by listening to songs that have been the soundtrack to our lives.

From CCR and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, to Michael Jackson and REO Speedwagon, the Heartland Community College Cafe transformed into an audio time machine.  Songs from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and beyond rang through the cafe while visitors enjoyed a cash bar and fantastic appetizers and desserts prepared by Heartland Community College Chef Scott Rowan.

DJ, Faith Rinker (B104 and WBNQ) encouraged attendees to bring their records so she could play their favorite songs. Attendees also shared their thoughts about the song and what it meant to them by using an open mic.

This was the second year for the event.  Some attendees had so much fun they asked to make this a twice-a-year event.

Maria Bassalay said of the event, "I had a great time celebrating good music and reminiscing good old times while tasting delicious wine and hors d'oeuvres.  The event was very well organized and I am looking forward to the next one, Comedy Night!" (The Challenger Learning Center Funnyraiser is scheduled for February 28 in the Café)

Wine and Cheese

Guests also had the opportunity to sample wine provided by Heritage Wine Cellars and cheese from Ropp Jersey Cheese.
