Singers Wanted for Heartland Idol 2014

So you think you can sing?  You don’t have to face Keith Urban, JLo or Harry Connick Jr., but Heartland is looking for talented artists for our fifth, annual Heartland Idol competition.  This year's event will be from 7-9:30 p.m. Friday, April 25 at the Astroth Community Education Center Auditorium.  There will be a pre-show starting at 6 p.m.

Individual and group acts will compete for a “Critics’ Choice” award from a panel of celebrity judges and a prize package that includes a chance to sing the national anthem at Heartland Night of the CornBelters’ professional baseball season. In addition, audience members can select a “Crowd Favorite” by voting with cash, and the winning performer(s) will be given a prize package valued at more than $100.

Participants must be 12 years or older.  Those under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian’s signature to enter the contest. No individual under contract (recording, entertainment, management or otherwise) will be eligible to participate in the contest. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Monday,  March 24, 2014.  As many as 12 acts will be selected by members of the Heartland Idol screening committee.

All proceeds from the event will go to support the Heartland Alumni Scholarship Fund.

The Heartland Idol application can be found on the Events tab of the Alumni and Friends website at www.heartland.edu/alumni.
