HCC to select 2014 Distinguished Alumni recipient; nominations due April 7
Heartland Community College is accepting nominees for its 2014 Distinguished Alumni award.
Heartland’s Distinguished Alumni award is granted to a former Heartland student who has made a significant contribution to their community and/or workplace through leadership, activism, philanthropy or professional accomplishments and outreach.
Heartland’s first Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, named in 2009, was environmental crusader and CNN’s 2013 Hero of the Year, Chad Pregracke. “Since then we have had a police chief, an entrepreneur, a chief operating officer, and a nurse receive this award,” said Colleen Reynolds, director of Alumni Relations-Donor Engagement. “Many of our alumni have made a significant impact on their communities or their professions after graduation, and the Alumni Association thinks they deserve to be recognized.”
The recipient of the Distinguished Alumni award recipient will be acknowledged and given a chance to address Heartland’s 2014 graduates as part of the College’s commencement ceremony, which will be held May 17 at Heartland’s Raab Road campus in Normal.
