Pontiac Golf Outing Raises $40K for Scholarships

Caterpillar Fuel Systems and the Heartland Community College Foundation raised over $40,000 for student scholarships at the eighth annual Scoring FORE Scholarships golf outing June 5 at Pontiac Elks Lodge in Pontiac, IL.

"Caterpillar and their partners continue to show their amazing generosity to local students,” said Chris Downing, Executive Director at HCC. “The scholarships they create and the lives that they are changing are a testament to their commitment to this community."

Scoring FORE Scholarships raises scholarship funds for Heartland students located in Livingston County. Since its start in 2006, the outing has raised more than $250,000 and has granted 65 scholarships to 25 students. This year, Caterpillar was able to raise the number of full-ride scholarships awarded from five students to six.

“The support for our Scoring FORE Scholarships golf outing this year set a new record in contributions toward scholarships for deserving students to be able to attend Heartland Community College,” said Susan Toher, Operations Manager for Caterpillar Fuel Systems. “Between the beautiful weather and the enthusiastic participation from suppliers, customers, Caterpillar employees, retirees, HCC partners, and local community members, the day was a huge success all around!”

The Caterpillar Scholarship covers tuition and fees for up to four semesters. Current recipients include Cole Fairley, Tina Maier, Brooke Mills and Kristina Ruiz. Livingston County students interested in the scholarship should visit www.hccfoundation.org.
