Michael Stalter returns to Heartland Community College for his first collegiate coaching opportunity as an Assistant Coach. Stalter played two seasons in the Mid-West Athletic Conference, one at Lincoln Land Community College and one at Heartland Community College, and compiled a combined .402 batting average with 21 home runs. He was an NJCAA All-American and M-WAC Freshman Player of the Year.
After his stint at Heartland, Stalter transferred to Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he started 109 straight games at shortstop for the Salukis. He was the only player to start every game at SIU during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
Stalter played one year for the Southern Illinois Miners of the Professional Independent Frontier League. He helped the Miners set a Frontier League record with a 20-game winning streak which allowed them to tie for the second most wins in a single season at 64. That season, the Miners won their first ever West Division title while Stalter was on the team.
