Evan Fahrner was born in Peoria, IL and is a graduate of both Peoria Notre Dame High School and Bradley University where he earned First team all-MVC honors for the Braves in 1999.

Drafted in the 23rd round of the 1999 draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks he brings nine years of professional baseball experience to Heartland. Primarily a right-handed reliever, Fahrner has played for five organizations including the Diamondbacks, Cubs, A's, Phillies and Blue Jays. Coach Fahrner, who was a AA all-star in 2005 for the Texas League Champion Midland Rockhounds, also brings coaching experience to the Hawks.

He spent the spring of 2002 as the pitching coach at Illinois Central College and has spent his off seasons giving pitching lessons at The Practice Factory and Sports Enhancement Center in Bloomington. Evan resides in Bloomington with his wife Samantha (Hardwick) a former standout volleyball player at Normal West High School and Bradley University. On May 24, 2008 Samantha gave birth to the couples first child, Nolan Jacob.
