Assistant Women's Soccer Coach

Sarah Wintersteen joins the Heartland Community College program as assistant coach for the 2011 campaign. A University High School graduate, Wintersteen was a three year starter, splitting duties between goal keeper and defense. She moved on to Monmouth College, where she also earned the starting goal keeper position for three years. While at Monmouth, Wintersteen also set records two consecutive years for most minutes played in a season. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in arts in 2011 with a major in business administration and a minor in communication.

Wintersteen brings several coaching strengths to the Heartland program, including educating players on techniques that allow them to see the whole field and communicate effectively with teammates about ball movement and anticipating an opponent's position. These experiences will prove valuable on the defensive side of the ball and in goal, helping the Hawks to limit their opponents' scoring opportunities.
