Daryn Miller takes over the head coaching position after working with the team as the assistant coach in the Hawks second season. Miller is no stranger to junior college ball. After earning All-Conference and All-Region honors in baseball at Lake Land Community College in Mattoon, Miller went on to become a two year starter and team MVP at the University of Memphis where he also spent a year as a graduate assistant coach working with the team’s infielders and organizing camp instruction.
After his baseball days, Miller stormed onto the Men's Major Fast pitch scene, earning a selection as a First Team All-American in the 2003 Amateur Softball Association (ASA) National Tournament. Miller’s other playing highlights include a fourth place finish in the ASA Men's Major Fast pitch Tournament in 2004 and an eighth place finish in the International Softball Congress World Tournament in 2005. In the fall of 2008, Miller was named to his third consecutive United States Men's National Team. As a silver medalist at the 2007 International Softball Federation’s (ISF) World Championship in Prague, Czech Republic, Miller hit .343 with 6 RBIs for Team USA. He then hit .333 while capturing gold in the American Challenge Series in Oklahoma City later that year. This past summer, Miller played in the Tri-Nations Series to prepare for the upcoming ISF World Championships in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Coach Miller is currently finishing a doctorate of chiropractic degree at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and gives private instruction in both baseball and softball throughout the Quad Cities and Bloomington-Normal areas.
