This Special Topics course is geared primarily to those interested in becoming teachers, paraprofessionals or those genuinely interested in working with children who have disabilities. The focus of this course will be service learning based as you assist, in various capacities, with the McLean County Penguin Project ? a program designed to give children with disabilities an opportunity to participate in the performing arts. Students will gain valuable ?hands-on? experience working with school age children from our community who have varying disabilities as they rehearse and perform in a musical theater production. Attendance at evening (and some weekend) rehearsals is mandatory for students. Time commitment will increase as performances approach. 1-4 credit hours
