MATH 109: College Algebra for Math & Science

Prerequisite(s):
-Completion of MATH 094 OR
-Placement at college level math
AND
-Completion of MATH 098 with a C OR
-Placement out of Geometry
AND
-Placement at ENGL 099/101 or higher OR
-Concurrent enrollment in ENGL 098

The main concept of this course is the notion of a function. Polynomial, radical, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions are studied from a symbolic, as well as graphical perspective. The course is intended to prepare college students for studying Calculus. Graphing utilities are used extensively as learning tools. A graphing calculator is required for this course (instruction will be based on a TI 89). 4 credit hours
