Course Descriptions

MATH 128: Trigonometry

-Completion of MATH 094 OR
-Placement at MATH 128 or higher
-Completion of MATH 098 with a P OR
-Placement out of Geometry
-Placement at READ 091 or higher OR
-Concurrent enrollment in READ 090

This course begins with a definition of the six trigonometric functions. The course work follows an investigation of these functions, their graphs, their relationships to one another, and ways in which they can be used in a variety of applications. Specific applications include triangles, vectors, polar coordinates and equations. The course is designed to equip students with an understanding of trigonometry necessary for the study of calculus. A graphing calculator is required for this course (instruction will be based on a TI 89). 3 credit hours
