NETW 160: Introduction to Networking

-Completion of CSCI 101
-Placement at college level English OR
-Concurrent enrollment in ENGL 099/101
-Placement at college level reading

This course is an introduction to hardware and software used in data communication and networking. Topics include personal computer hardware, operating systems, connecting to a network and the Internet, network addressing, network services, wireless technology, basic security and troubleshooting. This course provides a knowledge base of networking concepts and terminology in preparation for more advanced study of networks with a basic understanding of digital data and communications. Practical experience with networks is part of the course. 3 credit hours

Career and Technical Course: This course is a specific requirement for an Associate of Applied Science or certificate program and may not transfer. Please consult with your advisor about transferability.
