NURS 122: Community-Based Nursing

-Completion of BIOL 181, NURS 112, NURS 113, NURS 117, and PSY 101 with a grade of C or better
-Completion with a grade of C or better or concurrent enrollment in BIOL 182, ENGL 101, NURS 134, and NURS 135

This course introduces the student to the practice of community health nursing using Orem’s self-care model. The focus is on foundational knowledge required to practice in community settings, including communication, teaching and learning, health promotion, and disease prevention. Quality management and use of power, politics, and public policy will be explored in creating and maintaining new health care delivery systems in the community. 1 credit hour

Career and Technical Course: This course is a specific requirement for an Associate of Applied Science or certificate program and may not transfer. Please consult with your advisor about transferability.
