These professional education programs are designed to prepare you for employment in specialized careers. These courses may require additional time commitments outside of class. Students who successfully complete course and experiential requirements should have the skills to pursue employment opportunities in their chosen field. We encourage you to research employment opportunities prior to registration.

Health Care Careers Preview
Join us to learn more about allied health care careers and the health care professional courses available through Community Education, including Phlebotomy Technician, Medical Office Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Dental Assisting and Clinical Medical Assistant. We will begin with a general information session followed by break-out sessions with individual instructors.

Allied Health Care Program Refund Policy
In order to receive a full refund you must do so at least 2 working days prior to the first day of class. If you are on the payment program your processing fee will be refunded. You will receive your refund within 10-15 business days after the class has been dropped. To drop a class call 309-268-8160.
If the refund deadline has passed, a student may be considered for a full refund of tuition if a licensed physician documents that a major medical situation has occurred which supports the student’s withdrawal from his/her class. To be considered for a medical withdrawal, a letter must be written in a timely manner, including medical documentation to the Dean of Continuing Education.
Reservists called to active duty while enrolled at Heartland Community College shall receive a full refund or credit against future enrollment. A letter requesting the drop and military documentation should be provided to the Dean of Continuing Education.
If a class is canceled because of insufficient enrollment or for another reason, students will receive a full refund.

Students who successfully complete all three courses in the Certification Sequence and the Travel Agent Proficiency Exam, which is administered on campus, will earn a Travel and Tourism Professional Certificate from Heartland Community College.

The course, which can be completed in 30 days or less, covers basic topics in electricity, gas and steam as well as an introduction to the commercial food equipment industry. You are guaranteed a job interview with an authorized service company after successfully completing the program.
