What is Community Scholars?

The Community Scholars Program gives students the chance to pay for college at HCC by performing community service and building leadership skills. The intensive two-year program uses leadership training and experimental learning, based in community service.

What do Scholars receive?

Scholarship recipients receive:

  • A waiver of all tuition and fees up to a maximum of four semesters of full-time enrollment and two summer sessions
  • The assistance of a program mentor to encourage academic excellence
  • The attention of a designated advisor
  • On-campus leadership opportunities
  • Practical work experience

Who qualifies?

The program is specifically designed for recent high school graduates of District 540. Admittance to the program is based on high school academic performance, achievement scores, teacher recommendations and the quality of the application.

What is the deadline?

Community Scholars Scholarship application is due April 1.
