Heartland Community College has a foundational commitment to modeling stewardship and sustainability.

Established in 2008, The Green Institute supports Heartland Community College's foundational commitment to sustainability. We provide resources and develop and implements environmental sustainability programs and initiatives that respond to the needs and interests of the campus and wider community, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, recycling, local food and water conservation.

Campus Sustainability

Our sustainability efforts on campus include recycling, LEED buildings, public transportation and much more. Learn more about our efforts.

Resource Center 

The resource center is dedicated to environmental education. It includes publications and online resources and is open to students, faculty, businesses, residents, K-12 schools, higher education institutions and environmental organizations.

Community Education Classes

We offer a variety of classes for students and the community on sustainability.

We want to help you and your business advance in the growing green economy. From energy efficiency to biodiversity, we can help.

Degree and Certificate Programs

Earn a degree or certificate in sustainable design, renewable energies technologies or environmental controls.

This dedicated space honors the environmental reclamation work of Heartland alumnus Chad Pregracke.
