Facilities & Operations
The College strives to use energy, water, and material resources efficiently and to minimize negative impact on the environment. This is achieved through better building siting, design, construction, operation, maintenance and waste removal.
Campus Design & Construction
- Phase I Campus Construction
- The Workforce Development Center is a prime example of this approach.
- Phase II Campus Project construction follows LEED standards (will not pursue formal certification)
Building Operation & Maintenance
The College has adopted a wide range of green practices to maintain and operate campus facilities.
Energy Conservation
- Enhanced building automation for future energy management initiative
- Ground-facing outdoor light fixtures to reduce light pollution
- Energy Star computers and appliances
- Conducting a feasibility study for wind turbine(s) to power campus as well as provide an instructional laboratory
Water Conservation
- Low-maintenance landscaping for more efficient water use
Green Cleaning
- Environmentally friendly cleaning methods adopted (July 2007)
