Chad Pregracke

The Pregracke Center presents the environmental reclamation work of Heartland alumnus Chad Pregracke. In 1998 Chad founded Living Lands & Waters, the non-profit river cleanup organization based in East Moline, Illinois. Since then, the organization has grown to include a paid staff and a fleet of several barges and workboats. Thousands of volunteers help annually with Community River Cleanups, Riverbottom Restoration and Adopt-A-River Mile programs. Chad's enthusiasm and passion for a cleaner river environment have caught the national media's attention. Chad and Living Lands & Waters have been featured in such national publications as Time, Biography, Smithsonian and People Magazine and have been profiled on CNN, CBS and NBC news programs.

To learn more about how Chad's commitment has made a difference - one river at a time, one piece of garbage at a time - visit the Pregracke Center in the Green Institute at Heartland Community College.
