Certificate of Achievement in Life Skills Development

Upon earning 64 semester hours (1,024 clock hours), students in the HALO Program receive a Certificate of Achievement in Life Skills Development. This certificate is designed to prepare students for independent living and competitive employment through a mixed/hybrid approach.

  • Students will spend half of their time in inclusive, academic components of the program (such as audited courses, work-based training, Community Education courses, credit and developmental education courses).
  • Students will spend the other half of their time in life skills courses with other students with intellectual disabilities.

Although each student progresses through the program at their own pace, it generally takes about three years to complete the program by earning 10 semester hours each semester.
