If I am not CPR certified, am I eligible to take the Basic EMT course?
Come to the first class. CPR certification is strongly recommended prior to your class starting. However, if you are unable to complete or take a CPR Certification Class prior to the semester starting, you may still attend the course. The first class orientation will clarify this prerequisite.
Why do I need a criminal background check before beginning clinical in the Basic EMT course?
Criminal background checks are required by all field experience providers. Students will be required to complete a criminal background history at their own expense through a college selected provider prior to any field experience.
What equipment will I need before beginning clinical and field experiences?
Additional supplies, uniforms, and equipment such as stethoscope, scissors, etc., must be purchased by the student prior to the field experience at a cost of approximately $100.
