Tom Corcoran (media technologist formerly for the Instructional Development Center) has moved from the Academic Support and Student Success Division to the Information Technology (IT) Department. A primary rationale behind this move was ensuring enhanced service to Blackboard users, both students and faculty. Tom has been increasingly devoting more and more of his skills, talents, and time to Blackboard-related needs, and it seems essential to high quality delivery of online instruction that he continue to do so. Tom has graciously supported this move and looks forward to working with a team of fellow IT staff members to deliver necessary services.

Faculty and staff should make requests for the services listed below through the IT Helpdesk. These requests will typically be routed to Tom or other staff in IT who will work to meet the particular need identified in the request for help. Subjects that may be included in these requests are:

  • Camtasia Screen Recording assistance
  • Audio Podcasting Recording assistance
  • Assistance with other Tech Tuesdays topics including Blogging/Wikis, Image Editing, HTML/CSS, GoogleDocs, Flickr, VoiceThread, Jing, FlipVideo camera, Digital Audio Recorders, Prezi, etc.
  • Other Audio/Video support (capturing video clips off VHS/DVD, maintaining files on the Tech Streaming Server, backing projects up to DVD/CR-ROM, editing audio in Audacity, etc.)
  • Use of the Windows PC for Recording/Camtasia production, Macintosh with VCR/DVD/Final Cut Express video production (both currently in SCB 2314, but perhaps eventually moved elsewhere)
  • Blackboard Course assistance/multimedia online support, embedding audio/video into Blackboard, image editing and creating banner graphics for Blackboard courses, copying courses to future semesters, adding full text library resources to Blackboard, etc.
  • Multimedia/Flash-based Diagram/Content creation (jeopardy game board, interactive diagrams, etc.)
