Heartland Community College offers students the chance to expand their horizons by immersing themselves in another culture through a variety of study abroad programs. Studying abroad requires advanced planning.

January 20-May 1, 2009

Instruction/Credit

15 hours of credit from Heartland Community College

  • German language course (no prior knowledge required)
  • Austrian Civilization
  • Art History OR Music Appreciation
  • Two elective courses

Participants are required to attend an Orientation Session with preparation tips, language testing, and opportunity to meet one another

Field Trips

  • Germany - Frankfurt, Cologne, Bonn, Worms, Heidelberg, Rothenburg, and Nuremberg
  • Vienna - city tours, museums, UN Headquarters, former concentration camp, monastery, etc.
  • Salzkammergut - Mondsee, St. Wolfgang, and Hallstatt

Housing

  • Homestay
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner included

Requirements

  • 2.75 GPA
  • Minimum age: 18
  • A or B in English 101
  • 12-15 hours of earned credit

Cost

$11,815 + airfare + approximately $1,000 in personal expenses (phone, souvenirs and misellaneous expenses) includes:

Payment Schedule

Two payments due: A $500 deposit is due at the time of application and a final payment is due by orientation.

Students are strongly advised to plan early for a study abroad experience. Both financial and academic arrangements take time. Dates, cost information, and applications are available through Pamela Sweetwood, Study Abroad Office (CCB 2308).

Additional Information
