  • American Museum of Photography

    A virtual museum of photography with special exhibits including daguerreotypes, Ansel Adams prints and much more.
  • Archives of American Art

    Since 1954, the Archives (a division of the Smithsonian Institution) has collected roughly 16 million letters, photographs, diaries, oral history interviews, sketches, scrapbooks, business records and other documents that support the study of visual arts history in America.
  • Art Cyclopedia

    A database searchable by artist, title of work, museum, movement, medium and more. The search links you to Web sites from online image galleries, the museums that hold the pieces, and a variety of articles about each topic.
  • ArtLex

    ArtLex is an online dictionary of art terms with links to examples and other resources. Articles may be useful in background research on art topics.
  • Asia-art.net

    Traditional and modern Asian art is presented here along with historical essays, interviews and discussion of techniques. Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Thai, Japanese, Indonesian, Khmer and Malaysian art are represented.
  • Carli Image Database
