What are some credible sites about criminal justice?
- Full text of Corrections Today -- the professional membership publication of the ACA -- as well as a job bank, online classes and more for people in the corrections field.
- Find statistics on crime and victims, criminal offenders, law enforcement, courts and sentencing and more at this site, which also provides 300-400 full-text publications.
- Searchable database of campus crime statistics from 1998 to 2000 for over 6,000 colleges and universities. Users can search for a particular school, or browse using factors such as region, state, city, type of institution, instructional program or number of students. Statistics are presented in table format--one school at a time--and cover criminal offenses, hate offenses and arrests.
- Find crime scene response and evidence collection guidelines, articles on general investigation, fingerprints, photography, computer forensics and more at this site.
- Links to annotated lists of sites covering topics such as gun control, computer crime, gangs, terrorism, drugs, alcohol, police, prisons and more.
- Annual reports, statistics, inmate information, a searchable database, a directory of facilities and more is available from this United States Department of Justice site.
- Illinois Uniform Crime Reports from as far back as 1997 are available on this site. Statistics are broken down by type of reporting agency, geography, type of crime, etc.
- Authoritative articles on corrections, courts, drugs, crime, juvenile justice, law enforcement and more. Articles are housed on various government agency sites.
- Online version of a popular print source from 2003 (31st edition) that includes a compilation of data from more than 100 sources about many aspects of criminal justice in the United States.
- Nationwide crime statistics compiled by the FBI. The three major categories covered include "Crime in the United States," "Hate Crime Statistics," and "Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted."
