  • Energy Information Administration

    Vast amount of information on the past, present and future of the energy industry. Browse by general energy type-petroleum, natural gas, coal, nuclear or alternative. Also access energy forecast information and historical data.
  • Envirofacts Data Warehouse

    Searchable data from the EPA. Users can search by location or by general topics including waste, water, toxics, air, land and radiation.
  • EnviroLink

    EnviroLink reviews and provides access (by subject) to thousands of online environmental resources. The site also provides current environmental news headlines.
  • EPA

    The Environmental Protection Agency has information on most environmental issues including air, ecosystems, human health, industries, pollution and water. Search by keyword or topic.
  • GreenFILE Database

    This free research database from EBSCO focuses on the relationship between human beings and the environment. Topics range from global warming and recycling to alternate fuel sources and beyond. Search for magazine and journal articles as well as government documents. Some full-text materials available.
  • HCC Weather

    Records the weather conditions at Heartland Community College, including temperature, wind speed, humidity and more.
  • Illinois State Climatologist Office

    Daily climate data for about 400 stations in Illinois. Data available includes high and low temperatures, precipitation, snowfall and snow depth. Many of these stations go back to 1948, although some stations go back to the turn of the century.
  • Illinois State Geological Survey

    Find short documents on various geological subjects such as Karst landscapes or fluorite -- the Illinois state mineral. Also found here are various publications and maps, information on fossils and wells in Illinois and much more.
  • Midwestern Regional Climate Center

    View climate maps of temperature and precipitation from current and past months as well as recent seasons. Other links provide drought information, significant and historical weather events data, and a variety of other resources.

  • NOAA/ESRL Global Monitoring Division

  • StarDate Online

    From the University of Texas McDonald Observatory. Includes daily, weekly, monthly and yearly stargazing tips, as well as a solar system and galaxy guide. A glossary, a selection of frequently asked questions as well as some full-text articles also are included.
  • United States Geological Survey

    Scientific information on each state including information about earthquakes, landslides, floods, West Nile Virus and more.
