Welcome

Welcome to the Math-Science Division at Heartland Community College. The Math-Science Division offers courses that serve to support many of the programs throughout the college as well as prepare students for transfer in math and science fields.

In addition to providing knowledge specific to the individual disciplines (Agriculture, Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics), courses within the division have the general goal of promoting habits of thought and reflection that are characteristic of a well-educated person. These include the ability to discern meaning and solve problems through careful observation and analysis; to think logically and systematically; and to comprehend and communicate information in a variety of forms.

Students seeking to transfer to a four-year college or university can pursue one of the division's transfer preparation program in the specific subject areas as well as Geology, Pre-Medicine, and Pre-Veterinary. The division also offers an Associate Degree in Engineering Science (A.E.S.) for those students planning to transfer to a four-year engineering school.
