HALO .5K Fundraising Run Saturday, May 19
Please join the Heartland Community College Foundation Saturday, May 19 for a .5 K to support the HALO Program at Heartland Community College! Race registration, food and fun begins at 4 p.m. with a 5:30 p.m. start time for the actual .5K race.
(Please note the “.” before the 5 and train accordingly for a .5K -- like by walking to your mailbox to send in the preregistration form.)
This event will feature pre-"race" entertainment, a t-shirt for all participants, and a post-"race" baseball game with the Normal CornBelters (for those interested). Even if you walk the route, you still earn a t-shirt!
The Heartland Academy for Learning Opportunities (HALO) is a new program offered by Heartland Community College designed to provide access to higher education for students with intellectual disabilities who are interested in continuing their education in a supportive and challenging learning environment. The HALO program is focused on training and retraining students with the skills and technology that is essential for them to reach their fullest potential. For many students, scholarship support is a critical component of access to educational opportunity and is often a determining factor in their decision to attend college. This supportive and inclusive college experience for adults with intellectual disabilities enhances quality of life and builds work readiness skills.
We encourage you to preregister by completing and returning our simple online form.
