The Challenger Learning Center at Heartland Community College invites adults 21 and over to attend an amateur evening of stand-up comedy that will support the Challenger Learning Center Scholarship Fund.
The second annual “FunnyRaiser” at Heartland’s Challenger Learning Center will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, February 24 at the College’s Campus Café on Heartland’s Normal campus, 1500 West Raab Road. The evening will feature amateur comedians Dr. Jay Ansher, Pixie Clemons, Dan Irvin, Doug Minter, Dave Selzer and Joe Strupek, and will be emceed by Todd Wineburner. A cash bar and catering by the Bloomington-based Ozark House restaurant will be available as well. In addition, a variety of silent auction items will be available throughout the evening.
During this friendly stand-up comedy fundraising event, audience members will play an active role in determining the evening’s “winner.” Prizes will be awarded for “Crowd Favorite,” which is determined by audience members voting by donating funds on behalf of their favorite comedians, as well as “Judges’ Choice,” which will be determined by a panel of local comedy “experts.”
Tickets for this amusing event are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Advance tickets are available at the Challenger Learning Center at Heartland Community College, located on the lower level of the Astroth Community Education Center on the College’s Normal campus. Advance tickets are also available for purchase online on the Challenger Learning Center website at www.challengerlearningcenter.com. Proceeds from the event will support classroom scholarships for local schools to participate in missions at the Challenger Learning Center. Last year alone, the CLC provided scholarships to 10 schools and 594 students.
