HCC Announces Student Art Winners!

Heartland Community College's eighth annual Juried Student Art Exhibition features a wide range of media and styles with works by student artists created in studio art courses. Dave Wilson, an Illinois State graduate who serves as associate professor of Art and director of the President’s Gallery at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota, judged the exhibition. The following Heartland students were recognized for their submissions:

  • Best of Show: Matt Drew, Untitled, archival digital print
    Prize: $200 gift certificate from Dick Blick Art Materials
  • First Place: John Pavlou, Values, archival digital print
    Prize: $100 gift certificate from Dick Blick Art Materials
  • Second Place: Catherine Kussman, Angler Days, pastel and charcoal on paper
    Prize: $75 gift certificate from Dick Blick Art Materials
  • Third Place: Amber Gravitt, Untitled, charcoal and pencil on paper
    Prize: $25 gift certificate from Dick Blick Art Materials
  • Honorable Mention: Harold Sheen, Untitled, urethane foam and spray paint sculpture
    Prize: $25 gift card from Barnes and Noble
  • Honorable Mention: Ben Smith, Untitled, archival digital print
