NIU Hosting "On-the-Spot" Admissions March 4th

On Tuesday, March 4, a representative from Northern Illinois University's (NIU) Office of Admissions will visit Heartland Community College to provide "On-the-Spot" Admissions for students interested in starting at NIU in the summer or fall of 2014. This opportunity is open to students who still need to apply to NIU or who are awaiting a decision regarding their current application*.

Appointments for NIU On-the-Spot sessions can be made at Advisement (CCB 1000) or by calling (309) 268-8033.  Appointments will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis until 4:30 p.m. Friday, February 28. Prior to the appointment students must:

  • Submit an application online at http://www.niu.edu/admissions/index.shtml.  Once submitted, students will have the ability to print the application and are required to bring a copy to the appointment. (Application must be submitted no later than February 28th)
  • Obtain their official Heartland transcript, which must be requested in advance.
  • Obtain official transcripts from each previous college or university attended.
  • Obtain a copy of official high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores if less than 24 semester hours of college credit have been earned.
  • Meet all admission requirements.

Admission decisions are made based on thorough evaluation of all application materials and transcripts.  In some cases, On-the-Spot Admission may not be possible.
