This system is for use by users authenticated by HCC. Any individual using this system, acknowledges and consents to HCC's Security and Appropriate Use Policy. Unauthorized and/or improper use of this system, is not tolerated and the college may revoke any user's access.

Change Security Questions

The first time you log into Password Station you must answer three preset security questions. Once you have successfully answered these security questions, you are strongly encouraged to change them. In addition, at any time thereafter, you may change your security questions. The purpose of the security questions is to allow a student a way to authenticate to Password Station when he/she has forgotten his/her password by providing answers to questions he/she will remember. Once in Password Station, the student may set a new password which is required to access most Heartland Community College computer resources. The questions provide a measure of security. It is important that the answers to these questions should be answers that are not easily found out by others and are only known by the student. Follow the steps below to change your security questions.

In order to change your security questions, you must be able to authenticate to password station using your current password. If you do not know your password, you must first authenticate to password station using your existing security questions and reset your password.

  1. Enter your Login Name in the text field at the left and click the I Agree button.

    (Note: Your Login Name is the first part of your e-mail address. It is comprised of your first initial, part of your last name and possibly a number up to eight characters. For example, Tom Williams might have the Login Name TWILLIA19.)

  2. Click on the Change Questions button.

    Choose Change Questions button.

  3. Enter your password in the Password to verify your identity and click the Continue button.

  4. Select a new question in the Question 1 dropdown and fill in the corresponding answer in the Answer 1 text field.

    (Note: If no question is already selected, select a question and enter the answer.)

  5. Repeat step 4 for Question 2 and Question 3.

  6. When you are finished click the Continue button.

  7. Choose the Sign Out button in the top right portion of the screen.

    Sign out of Password Station.

  8. Click the Close the window and leave Password Station link to exit Password Station.

    Close Password Station.

    (Note: Apart from the portal login browser window, as long as the Password Station browser window was the only other window open, you should now see the myHeartland login page https://my.heartland.edu once more.)
