Password Policy
Heartland Community College has implemented a password policy that enforces certain requirements when users select a password. The purpose of a password is to help ensure that the person logging is who they say they are. The purpose of the password policy is to make passwords more difficult to guess.

| History | Passwords may not be reused for five years. |
| Maximum Age | Passwords must be reset every 120 days. |
| Login Attempts | A user is allowed six login attempts. Each time a user tries to login with an incorrect password, a "login attempt" will be used. If a user tries to login six times and fails each time, the user account will be locked. |
| Protection | Sharing Passwords Is NOT PERMISSIBLE. Users may never share a password with any other person, including supervisors and IT Personnel. |
