This system is for use by users authenticated by HCC. Any individual using this system, acknowledges and consents to HCC's Security and Appropriate Use Policy. Unauthorized and/or improper use of this system, is not tolerated and the college may revoke any user's access.

Password Policy

Heartland Community College has implemented a password policy that enforces certain requirements when users select a password. The purpose of a password is to help ensure that the person logging is who they say they are. The purpose of the password policy is to make passwords more difficult to guess.

Heartland Community College’s password policy requirements
Length Minimum of eight characters.
Complexity
  • Must contain at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter and one number.
  • May not include the Login Name.
History Passwords may not be reused for five years.
Maximum Age Passwords must be reset every 120 days.
Login Attempts A user is allowed six login attempts. Each time a user tries to login with an incorrect password, a "login attempt" will be used. If a user tries to login six times and fails each time, the user account will be locked.
Protection Sharing Passwords Is NOT PERMISSIBLE. Users may never share a password with any other person, including supervisors and IT Personnel.
