Voter Registration Information For Heartland Community College Students

Effective January 1, 2006, Public Act 94-0492 takes effect. This Bill requires each public institution of higher learning in Illinois to make available on its website, a downloadable, printable voter registration form.

Heartland is providing several opportunities for its students to register to vote.

• Go to http://www.elections.il.gov and download the mail-in Voter Registration form.
• If you have recently moved within your county and were previously registered, you only need to file a change of address form. Contact your County Clerks office.  Here are forms for McLean County.
  
• Several Heartland employees have been deputized to assist students in the registration process. Find a deputy registrar on campus.
  
• Watch for Special Events at which registration will take place.

• Not sure if you are registered to vote?  Check your voter status. (McLean County only)

Important dates to remember:

The final day to register to vote is October 4, 2010 for General  Election in McLean County – November 2, 2010

• Absentee voting

  Sept. 23, 2010 - Applications accepted for Absentee Ballots

  Oct. 4, 2010 - Last day to submit Absentee Ballot Application

  Oct. 12, 2010 - First day to vote Absentee in person

  Oct. 25, 2010 - Last day to mail Military Absentee Ballot

  Oct. 25, 2010 - Last day to mail Absentee Ballot

  Nov. 1, 2010 - Last day to vote Absentee in person.

• Grace Period Voting

Grace period voting is for those persons who did not register to vote or change their address before the close of registration. They may come into our office to register to vote or change their address during this period. If they intend to vote, they must vote in person at that time.

• Early Voting

Early voting is "no excuse needed" absentee voting. It will be available in the county clerk's office and additional satellite offices.
