Tutoring Services: Becoming a Tutor

Tutoring Services at Heartland also can help students and community members become tutors.

How can I become a tutor with Tutoring Services?

Candidates for Peer (undergraduate) and Master (Bachelor-degreed) Tutor positions must submit an employment application and participate in a group interview to be considered for employment.

Please submit the Heartland Community College Employment Application* (available in PDF format, 32 KB, 2 pages), a letter of application, and a resume to the address below. Application materials become part of the personnel file of applicants who are employed by the College.

Heartland Community College
Attn: Director of Human Resources
1500 W. Raab Rd.
Normal, IL 61761

Applications may be submitted at any time, but Tutoring Services holds group interviews seasonally. When group interviews are scheduled, promising applicants will be contacted to reserve an interview spot.

For more information about becoming a tutor, contact Anita Moore in the Academic Support Center at (309) 268-8249.

Tutors are paid hourly and schedules are generally flexible. Additional certification is available to tutors who successfully complete Level I training.
