Vice President for Learning and Student Success Profile and Application Procedures

Heartland Community College invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for Learning and Student Success. This position is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs and student services, which include degree and certificate programs, enrollment services, student support, student life, the library, and other programs and areas as appropriate.

Heartland Community College seeks a dynamic leader who embraces the community college mission and demonstrates genuine enthusiasm for student success.   • Passion for student success and learning that incorporates support for faculty, academic rigor, and high standards.
  • Collaborative servant leader who communicates effectively to build consensus while leveraging the experience and talent of team members.
  • Demonstrated success in working with widely varied stakeholders both internally and external to the College.
  • Upbeat, positive, and engaging with a solution-oriented, entrepreneurial approach.
  • Forward-thinking leader who has experience in innovative learning strategies.
  • Solid experience with technology including online/hybridized learning.
  • Earned doctorate in community college or higher education leadership and appropriate credential in an academic discipline.
  • Five years of progressive levels of administrative experience in a community college setting, including career and transfer programs.
  • Balanced understanding of full-time and part-time faculty concerns.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and global perspectives.
  • Experience administering academic programs and/or student services within a community college setting.
  • Experience with career, college, and life planning models including P-20 partnerships.
  • Experience optimizing class and room scheduling.
  • Experience building core curriculum structures around career pathways, laddered certificates, diplomas, and degrees.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree and progress toward doctorate degree.
  • Progressive levels of administrative experience consistent with the profile.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience and/or student services experience.
