Vinyl and Vino
Date: Friday, February 15, 2013
Time: 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Location: Heartland Community College, Heartland Cafe, Student Commons Building (SCB), Normal, Illinois
Vinyl and Vino was a great opportunity for attendees to take a trip back in time by listening to songs that were the soundtrack to their lives.
From CCR to Pink Floyd, and Michael Jackson to Carole King, the Heartland Community College Cafe was an audio time machine.
Our DJ, Faith Rinker, did a great job of encouraging the attendees to bring their records up and play their favorite song for the crowd.
Many attendees also shared why the song was their favorite and what the song meant to them.
One of our attendees, Mindy Kmetz, said what she liked best was "to be able to listen to my old vinyl again and reminisce by telling the story behind it."
In addition, attendees munched on wonderful appetizers and deserts prepared by Heartland Community College Chef Scott Rowan. A cash bar offered beer and wine.
Congratulations to Chris Pettit who won our door prize of toffee for a year from Colardo-based Simply Toffee, and to Bob Whelan, who won our silent auction item of assorted wines from Mackinaw Valley Vineyards.
