Step 3: Submit college transcripts
It's important to submit your college transcripts so that you can receive credit for the work you've already done! Official college transcripts can be sent electronically through an official, outside vendor or directly from your transfer institution. See Submit transcripts to Heartland for more information.
If you have questions about sending official transcripts electronically, contact the Records Office 309-268-8071.
Step 4: Meet with your advisor to register for classes
Advisors are available to help you explore your interests and skills as you develop personal, academic, and professional goals. Partnering early and often with your advisor will keep you on track toward reaching your destination.
A New Student Appointment is required for students who plan to complete a certificate or degree at Heartland. To schedule this appointment, log into your myHeartland account, click on Heartland Navigate, and pick a day and time that works for you.
Financial Steps
Step 1: Complete FAFSA
The Heartland Community College Financial Aid Office is here to help. To get started, fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It's important to apply for financial aid EARLY. The earlier you start, the easier it will be.
Step 2: Apply for scholarships
The Heartland Community College Foundation awards over 250 scholarships each year! All you need to do is complete one application in your myHeartland student center.
Step 3: Submit residency
Proof of in-district residency is required for you to receive the in-district tuition rate unless you graduated from a high school located in Heartland's district within the past year. For acceptable documentation and ways to submit, please see the residency page.
Step 4: Pay tuition
When it comes to paying for college, you have lots of options. You can access your student bill online by visiting home.heartland.edu, clicking on Student Center, then choosing View My Schedule/Bill.
