PTA 100: Introduction to Physical Therapy
-Admission into the PTA program
-Completion of BIOL 181, BIOL 182, COMM 101, ENGL 101, HLTH 225, PSY 101, and PSY 209 with grades of C or better
-Completion of, or concurrent enrollment in, PTA 101, 102, 110, 111, 120, and 121
Prerequisite: Acceptance into the PTA program, Completion with a grade of C or better, or concurrent enrollment in, PTA 101, PTA 102, PTA 110, PTA 111, PTA 120, and PTA 121. This course introduces students to the profession of physical therapy and the role of the physical therapist assistant (PTA) as part of the physical therapist/physical therapist assistant team. It includes the historical background of physical therapy, practice settings, and the role of the American Physical Therapy Association within the profession. Discussions are facilitated about legal and ethical issues, communication, cultural awareness, research and documentation in physical therapy. 1 credit hour
