Complete the HCC Application

 To Apply for College NOW...

  • Be sure to enter your correct social security number and high school graduation month and year during the online application process.
  • Use an email address you check often but avoid using your high school email account if possible. 
    • Be sure to check your spam/junk folder. Students with gmail accounts should also check the Promotions folder.
  • Note: If you have more than one home address (for example, if you live part-time with two separated/divorced parents), please enter the one you consider your PRIMARY address as your mailing address. Our system cannot accommodate more than one mailing address. 
  • Choose the following options as they appear on the application:
    • Take one or more classes (You must select this for the other choices to appear.)
    • I would like to earn HCC credit while I am still in high school.
    • Then choose which option describes how you will select your courses:
      • By choosing from HCC courses offered through my high school/career center.
      • By choosing from the HCC course catalog on my own and working with a Heartland Academic Advisor.
    • Select the correct start term for the HCC courses you intend to take.

 

  • WAIT! You do not need to submit the HCC student application every year while you are in high school. Your HCC student account will remain active until after you graduate from high school. If you have never applied to Heartland, you can continue with the following instructions!

    • Open the document containing application instructions (pdf) to refer to during the application process.
    • Then, check the box in the reCAPTCHA and click the blue Apply Now button below to access the application.
      • If you do not see a blue Apply Now button below, here are a few things to try:
        • reload/refresh the webpage
        • use a different browser (ie, Firefox, Edge, Chrome, Safari)
        • clear the browser cache
  • Don't Have a Social Security Number?

    Preferred method:

    Students who do not have a social security number (primarily international or exchange students), contact College NOW at 309-268-8603 or collegenow@heartland.edu for special instructions for completing the online application above. 

    Alternate method:

    Students without a social security number can complete this application. This is a fillable form you can complete on your computer, then download as a PDF. Please double-check that your downloaded form saved the information you entered before you close the browser window! If the download does not include your information, try the Print to PDF feature instead. 

    As you complete the form, choose these options:

    • Page 1: Select the correct start term for the HCC courses you intend to take.
    • Page 2: What would you like to do as a student at HCC?
      • Under Take one or more classeschoose:
      • I would like to earn HCC credit while I am still in high school.
      • Then choose which option describes how you will select your courses:
        • I will choose my HCC courses from the high school/career center offerings (College NOW)
        • I will choose my HCC courses from the HCC course catalog and work with a Heartland Academic Advisor.

    Submit your completed application pdf to this secure link following these instructions(Note: As of November 1st, 2023, you are no longer required to submit your permanent residency card or visa.)

    If you prefer, you can bring the completed application in person to any of our Heartland campuses to be scanned. On our main campus in Normal, our Early College Opportunities department is located in Advisement in the Community Commons Building, suite 1000. At our Pontiac or Lincoln campuses, please bring it to the front welcome desk, and let them know you are a College NOW student! 

After You Apply...

Within 3-5 business days, your welcome letter will go to the email address you enter on your application. *Be sure to check your spam/junk filter. Students with gmail accounts should also check the Promotions folder.*

  • Application processing could take longer during high-volume times OR if an error is detected with the information entered on your application (i.e. incorrect SSN, birth date, or high school graduation date).
  • Set up your myHeartland student account immediately using the instructions from your welcome letter.
