  • Joe Strupek, Emcee

A proud husband, father, and grandfather, Joe spends his time reading, writing, fishing, playing the trumpet, letting the dogs outside, pleading with them to come back in, and praying his neighbor’s leaf blower breaks.  He serves on the boards of the Salvation Army, Heartland Theatre Company, and in 2023 joined the Heartland Community College Foundation board. When not in  Bloomington/Normal, Joe can most likely be found in Montana’s Madison River Valley flyfishing and enjoying cigars with an accompanying beverage.

This year is Joe’s tenth as master of ceremonies. He is humbled by the opportunity to support the outstanding work done by the Heartland Community College Foundation, and broaden his joke telling audience beyond his pets, long suffering family and friends, and the occasional delivery driver.

Joe appreciates your support for both tonight’s comedians and Heartland Community College. Legendary comedian Milton Berle said, “Laughter is an instant vacation.”  Enjoy tonight’s trip.

    Chris Lackey

Meet Chris Lackey, the comedic virtuoso with a twist! Armed with a background in Creative Technologies and Music, they've mastered the art of laughter.

By day, they navigate the digital realm as an instructor in Digital Media, Business Technology, and Game Design. By night, they take the spotlight in multiple musical acts, serenading audiences with laughter and melody.

With a blend of wit, charm, and musical flair, Chris promises a laughter-filled journey that's as entertaining as it is unforgettable. Get ready to laugh, groove, and revel in the comedic symphony that is Chris!

    Abby Scott

In New York City, Abby Scott hosted barroom comedy shows, voiced a bee on Nick Jr and sold jokes for 10 bucks a pop to National Lampoon Radio.  In central Illinois, she’s been lucky enough to have performed with Heartland Theatre and Community Players. Now she makes a living having fun with math and hangs out with her husband Corey and kiddos Sam and Maddie.

    Jolene Aldus

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene will not take your man but is sure to make you chuckle. Contrary to popular belief, she does not get sick of that song, and although she was named after it, she in fact, is NOT a homewrecker, but a busy working Mom of 4. (If you haven’t heard the song, you are probably too young to come to her set.) After moving to Bloomington in March of 2020 and finding it challenging to meet people amid the pandemic, Jolene took to creative means to find people and places that welcomed her off color sense of humor, which she says did not take very long in this town. As a member of Bloomington Normal Sunrise Rotary, Pub Club Rotary, McLean County Chamber Ambassador, and a Leadership McLean alum, she is often volunteering to serve on whatever committee that can tolerate her. Jolene’s longtime boyfriend Willie will tell you not to encourage her, but that’s exactly what she is asking from you at this year’s FunnyRaiser.

    Richard Seehuus

Richard has been in Bloomington since 2003 but has been hilarious since birth. He is the tallest English professor at Heartland--possibly McLean County--and as a comedian he's a fantastic English teacher.

    Dr. Ed Kolb

Dr. Ed is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the funny bone only secondary to the humerus. His jokes are only slightly less sloppy than his signature.

Please give your informed consent before entering FunnyRaiser — these jokes are not covered by your insurance policy.

    Jeff Williams

Pastor, professor, counselor, and papaw to the cutest granddaughter in the world, one of Jeff's goals in life is to say YES to adventure. Outside of comedy, his talents are playing '60s and '70s acoustic sets and using storytelling and humor to bring hope to hurting people.

Originally from Memphis, TN, (his mother was high school friends with Elvis!), Jeff has lived in North Carolina, Mississippi, and Illinois. He's been married to Maxine for 31 years and has two grown sons in the Central Illinois area.
