Runners raise cash and spirits at 5K

October 28, 2021

The Heartland Community College 10th annual Heartland Harvest 5K run and 1K walk returned in person this year, following the 2020 virtual version. Approximately 100 participants signed up for the event to raise money for Heartland Community College scholarships and student support programs.

Chris Migotsky was the overall winner with a time of 20:55 for the 3.01 mile course. Women’s overall winner was Dawn Shay with a time of 21:55.

Returning this year was the "Race the President" challenge where students are invited to beat Heartland the run time of President Keith Cornille. Four students were successful in besting Dr. Cornille's race time. Curtis Baldwin, David Cruz, Emily Klaege and Noah Stengel all finished ahead of Heartland's president and will have their race registration fee refunded as an award.

The event raised $9,430 to support Heartland Community College students.
