Assessment Committee

The Assessment Committee (AC) is committed to improving student learning and instruction. We provide resources, guidance, training and feedback for faculty, administrators and coordinators.

CAS and Members

The committee also works closely with the Curriculum and Academic Standards (CAS) committee to review syllabi and various programs.

AC members include:

We meet the first and third Friday of each month.

Assessment Projects

Collecting Data on the Essential Competencies

After developing rubrics for all five of the college's Essential Competencies (Communication, Problem-Solving/Critical Thinking, Diversity, Social Responsibility, and Technology), the Assessment Committee began collecting data in the Fall of 2021.

With data collection continuing, the Assessment Committee will begin to review the collected data, communicate with faculty on how to access the data for their own use, and develop strategies to improve students’ achievement of all five of the Essential Competencies.

Developing New Essential Competency Assessment Rubrics

In the Spring of 2019, faculty had the option of completing the EC Assessment Rubric as part of their end-of-year review.  The Assessment Committee received over 85 submissions, which were reviewed and coded over the Summer of 2019.

Using this coded data, the Assessment Committee is now developing a rubric to gather data on the Assessment of the three Essential Competencies covered in the Spring 2019 survey: Communication (CO), Problem Solving/Critical Thinking (PS/CT) and Diversity (DI).

We presented these new rubrics to the college community in Spring 2020.
