Returning Students

Ready to come back and finish your degree or certificate? Follow the steps below to get started on your return to Heartland!

Step 1: Apply

If it has been more than 12 months since you submitted an application or took a class at Heartland, start by completing the Heartland application. You’ll select a program of study, but you can change it later with help from an advisor. After you apply, complete the steps below to register for classes.
If you have submitted an application or taken a class within the last 12 months, you do not need to reapply.

Step 2: Log on to myHeartland

After you’re accepted, you’ll receive an email with your Heartland login information. Use it to create your password and review your Tasks in your Student Center.

Step 3: Check Tasks

Tasks need to be completed before course registration.

Submit official college transcripts for possible transfer credit, if you attended any colleges other than Heartland.
Submit residency documentation to receive the in-district tuition rate.
Complete math and literacy placement, if necessary, or submit a waiver.

Step 4: Apply for Financial Aid and Scholarships

Step 5: Meet with an Advisor and Register for Classes

Advisors can help you develop personal, academic, and professional goals.

To schedule an appointment, call 309-268-8033 or go to home.heartland.edu, log in to Navigate, and choose a day and time.
Current or returning students can come to Drop-in Advising Hours, usually Monday - Friday from noon - 4:00 pm. *Note: Advisement for Career and Technical Education programs/degrees is by appointment only.

Step 6: Pay Tuition

- When it comes to paying for college, you have many options. You can access your student bill online by visiting home.heartland.edu, logging in to Student Center, then choosing View My Schedule/Bill.
