• Students register for the courses following the traditional college registration timeline.
• Students have access to all course materials at the start of the semester and will be responsible for submitting work according to specific due dates.
• These course are asynchronous, meaning there are no required live class times. Students can meet with a lab facilitator in-person or via Zoom for support.
• Students will use self-pacing guides to stay on track.
• Students will be responsible for submitting work according to set due dates.
• Course matetrials are often organized in a logical, step-by-step manner, with assessments (trainings, quizzes, and projects) built into each module.
• This modality benefits learners who want independence to work at their own speed but also value the support and structure typically found in more traditional courses. 

Success Strategies for Guided Self-Paced Students

• Self-schedule time each week to work on their Guided Self-Paced course.
• Be comfortable with navigating a computer and managing files.
• Check e-mail regularly.
• Internet access and a PC computer (NOT a Chromebook) which can accept application
  downloads.
• Use the Zoom link posted in Canvas for help.
• Contact your instructor via e-mail with questions.

How much time will I have to spend each week working on an Guided Self-Paced course?

• Due dates for each module will be set to guide students to stay on track. (Guided)
• The amount of time you spend each week is up to you. (Self-Paced)
• Guided Self-Paced course assignments are completed on your own time with no set meeting times. 
• Refer to Canvas and/or the course syllabus for assignment(s) that may be completed during Final Exam dates.

Will I ever see my instructor?

• All instructors who teach a Guided Self-Paced course work in the BTLC.
• Your instructor posted when they are working in the lab in your syllabus.
• You can make an appointment to see your instructor in the BTLC or at the Zoom link.

What computer skills do I need to be successful in Guided Self-Paced classes?

• Basic internet skills
• Basic keyboarding skills
• File management skills, such as saving and retrieving files

Do I need to have a computer at home?

• You should have access to a computer other than on campus.
• Your computer needs the Windows operating system (non-Mac) for these courses.
• Chromebooks WILL NOT work for the Guided Self-Paced courses.
• You will need to be able to download Microsoft Office applications.

This sounds overwhelming. Are there deadlines?

• See your course syllabus and Guided Self-Paced Guide for the module due dates. 
• Do not Procrastinate!
