Heartland Community College

Netherlands

It's not possible for all students to be away for a full semester,  so this program is designed for a shorter 3-week period to allow more students the ability to travel abroad, while still providing an in-depth cultural experience.

Program Description:

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is located near downtown Amsterdam and conveniently located for travel purposes. The campus has nearly 32,000 students including 6,000 international students.

For those interested in learning more about VU Amsterdam, you can take a Virtual Campus 360 Tour!

About Amsterdam:

Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands and is undoubtedly one of the world's most vibrant cities.
With its scenic canals, complex history, and iconic cultural scene, Amsterdam is a must-see location. Importantly, Amsterdam is a welcoming city, regardless of origin, gender identification, religion or sexual preference- everyone is welcome here!
Visually, the city is iconic as it is divided into some 90 islands by its many canals, and the city contains approximately 1,300 bridges and viaducts which are easily identified by the hundreds of houseboats that line its canals. Although the city has a modern metro system, about one-fifth of the workforce still relies on bicycles for everyday transportation.

Academics:

Students enroll in INTL 111: International Business & Economics (3 credits).

No previous Dutch language is required.
